Kittens...

so as I've mentioned before, Tim wants another cat. An exotic one. He had found these cats online, they're called Tonkinese. Nice looking cats, Some look Siamese, others are all one colour with different tones in them. So this lady is selling these Kittens online, and Tim sends her an email, they email back and forth, and Tim gives her our number. She calls on Sunday and I talk to her for a bit asking her all kinds of questions (to which most of them she was clueless) so she's telling me that they're ready to go, and she has someone coming to look at them that day (BTW I don't respond well to people trying to pressure me into things...) I don't know the exact words of the conversation, or what order i asked these in, but here are the answers to some of the questions I asked her.

Q-Do you have any references from people you have sold cats to in the past?
A- Uh.. No. I should probably start doing that though, eh?

Q- Are the parents related?
A- No.

Q where did the parents come from?
A- Pet paradise. (a pet store here in London)

Q well, how do you know they're not related?
A well, I didn't get them at the same time, I got them about a year apart.

Q-well, they could have come from the same breeder, and possibly from the same parents
A- well maybe.

Q-How long have you been breeding?
A- 2 years. originally, when I got the first cat, that wasn't my intention. but my daughter told me i could probably make some money off the cats, cause they're nice cats, so i got another one and started breeding.

Q-Are you registered with CFA?
A- No.

Q- are you registered with CCA?
A- no.

at which point I told her i would call her back. the next day, i got a hold of the manager at Pet paradise, and she said that there is a few breeders that she gets them from, but she doesn't remember that far back. Also, she told me that they NEVER get purebred Tonkinese, that they are always crossed with Siamese. so because they're a cross, they can't be papered.
I really hate when people are out to mis-lead me.

procrastination at it's finest

Ok, so I haven't written anything in a couple of days. Wednesday, I forgot I had a meeting in the afternoon. oh, the joys of being a union rep.

I also haven't worked on my sewing room at all this week. hopefully this weekend I'll get some time in there. I've just been trying to keep the rest of the house mostly clean and ignoring it. I hate that i'm such a procrastinator sometimes. I just have other stuff to do first... I also have to figure out some way to take off the closet doors. I made some beautiful pink curtains, and i need to get them up there soon. I think that'll make me want to be in there more.

Yesterday I ended up working until 16:45. Usually, I get off at 13:30. on Monday, when I went to Waterloo, My co-worker relieved me at 12:15. so 1 hour and 15 minutes early. this was in exchange for me covering for him yesterday. he had a dentist's appointment, at 14:00. so basically he owes me 2 hours. so on Monday, I get to leave at 11:30, which is UBER exiting!! I really do have the best co-worker ever.

So, Tim wants to get a Kitten. no, not just any kitten, a $700 kitten. I think he's undecided as to whether he wants a Bengal, or an Abyssinian. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE cats. I have a cat. she's wonderful. and i'm not opposed to getting another cat. I've known that Tim has wanted a kitten for a while. A little orange boy. I think it'd be good for Haze to have a little brother. just... why spend $700 on a cat? there are SO many kitties having kittens. beautiful kittens. I think Haze was one of those Many Many kittens. that, or she was abandoned. she was almost a year when I got her I think, and she was SO skinny... I just had to keep her. anyway, my point is there are so many kittens that are in need of a home, and are beautiful and fabulous. $700 is a lot of money. A lot of money to us, anyway. We need a new refrigerator. $700 could fix and feed a new cat AND my cat for a year. A YEAR!
